Sleeping Beauty Magnesium Oil Spray

Today I’m going to show you how to make a magnesium oil spray with essential oils for a beautiful and peaceful sleep.

As explained in one of my last post lavender essential oil is a wonderful oil for sleep and if you are like me and are having problem sleeping then stay tuned for the recipe.

But did you know that combined to magnesium oil their benefits are even greater?

All you need for this amazing sleeping spray :


  • 1 cup of magnesium flakes
  • 1 cup of distilled water
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil and voila.

First, let’s prepare our magnesium oil

  1. Add the water to a pan and simmer gently then, add your flakes to the water and mix, let it cool down for 15mn.
  2. Then add  lavender oil to the bottle
  3. Have a glass spray bottle ready
  4. Then pour your oil into it
  5. And last, add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil

and that’s it.

Easy, very effective and  quick to prepare

How to use your spray

Simply spray the oil mix, onto your body, preferably before bedtime but you can also use it in the morning and don’t worry you won’t fall asleep.

When first using magnesium oil it is recommended to start with 5 to 10 spray then increase to 20 sprays.

Avoid spraying the face and if using it for the first time it will give you a slight burning sensation

 If it burns too much then add a bit of jojoba oil after spraying or any carrier oil to soothe the skin. This may mean that you are magnesium deficient.


So better supply with food high in magnesium such as


  • Dark leafy greens
  • Coffee
  •  Dark Chocolate min 70%
  • Seeds and nuts, including sunflower and cashews and almonds sesame seeds,
  • Squash, broccoli, and other vegetables
  • Meat
  • Unprocessed whole grain


Benefits of magnesium oil for sleep

Magnesium deficiency can be one of the main factor affecting the quality of our sleep.

Our body needs magnesium to maintain a state of rest.

Low levels can lead to restless muscles that can keep us awake at night-  receptors in our brain the GABA and our nervous system are not working efficiently.

Magnesium oil can help our body and mind relax in order to fall asleep and stay asleep,

Your body and brain need to relax.

Adding magnesium oil or taking magnesium supplement, helps prepare our body for sleep, by helping to quiet our nervous system.

So yes magnesium is a great a way to supplement by helping your body and your brain relax before sleep and can also be enhanced by adding lavender and jasmine essential oils thanks to their relaxing properties.


As a measure of precaution and while essential oils may be safe they can also have few side effects therefore pregnant women and people taking prescription or medications should talk to their doctor before taking any natural remedies.
